Bad weekend for Swartland teamsWesbank Eyes Home Victory Comeback as Boland Top 12 Campaign Nears Crucial Stage
It wasn't a good weekend for both Swartland rugby teams following their second loss consecutively in a Boland Top 12 league.
Wesbank had a tough encounter against Botrivier where they lost 37-14 however the club is hoping to turn tables on their two home game in hand currently.
One of the Team Managers Mr Ashley Lotz said "Our final two fixtures are at home and not just against any sides, but against two of the top teams in the competition, both former Boland champions and clubs with whom Wesbank shares a proud history. This weekend we face Worcester Villagers, a team we last met in the 2015 Boland Cup Final right here in Malmesbury Rugby Field, just came short of the Boland Trophy in the last minute and now Once again, we’ll meet on our home turf,Wesbank Sports Ground and we’re looking forward to the challenge.
We As the management, of the club, we’ve seen firsthand the hard work our coaches and players continue to put in. We believe in them completely and remain confident that they will give their all to turn things around in this Top12 campaign. Our players don’t go onto the field to lose but they go to represent our club, our community, and our supporters with pride and determination. Now is the time to stand together and back our boys. This weekend is going to be massive, but if their is a team to do it...it wil be Wesbank.
We also want to sincerely thank our loyal supporters who’ve stood behind us not just during the Top12, but throughout the entire year. You’ve been incredible, and we know you share our belief that Wesbank can and will do better. With your continued support, we can rise again.
On other side The Lilies of Abbotsdale suffered a loss on a nail biting encounter against Hillcrest RFC with 33-32. The Lilies lost two games and drew one game on Pool A. They are hoping to return to the winning ways on their following match against Robertson Town this coming Saturday.
